LIBRARY WAYFINDING SYSTEM
Signage & Information Graphics
The icons were customized to fit the library’s collection and allow for better browsing.
They relate to the Library of Congress Classifications and help the user learn the system in a visual way. These icons are used in the way-finding map located in a central area of the library and correspond to rounds that are located on the ends of each bookshelf -- indicating the location of a specific classification of the book.
These icons are mounted at the end of each bookshelf, indicating the genre of books to help direct the user.
This map shows the layout of the library and the icons to make for a better browsing experience.
At the beginning of this project, we created a full scale model of the school's library to get a better idea of the layout and the space we were working with.
