ABOUT
My purpose for being a graphic designer is to help people communicate through my work. The most enjoyable work that I have done has been for other people in the form of branding. I have designed logos, infographics, and packaging for various clients. I enjoy bringing someone’s idea to life and putting a clean and recognizable face on their company or small business. Whether it is in advertising, branding, creating a logo for a business, or creating a better experience over-all through UI/UX, I want to focus on the people I am designing for. Another aspect that interests me is design research. Gaining the knowledge and information I need in order to design for someone helps me to gain understanding and empathize with what or who I am designing for. In my research, I tend to keep up with the current design trends, as well as practice new techniques and experiment with different mediums.
My design process is heavily influenced by the natural and physical objects around me. I love the feel and process of creating something by hand and then translating that into a digital format. I always start with sketches and then translate those to the computer. A lot of my current pieces involve cutting paper, vinyl, and other materials to create a dimensional and physical looking product. I also gain inspiration from nature, which stylistically produces soft and whimsical designs with organic shapes and lines. I like to pair these unique shapes with slender and or bold sans serif typefaces that complement the shapes by adding the right amount of visual contrast. The colors that are typically seen in my work are soft pastels and earth tones that go along with the style. Sometimes even taking flowers and leaves, pressing them, and then scanning them in to Photoshop creates interesting designs that are one of a kind and cannot be reproduced due to the uniqueness of each plant. This is important to me, as I want to bring that natural and loose feeling in to my work.
